Windows Mobile 7 on the HD2 Confirmed, Again!!

Remember when HTC Russia confirmed that the HD2 would get the Windows Mobile 7 update, and then took it back? Well, time to put another mark in the column in favor of an HTC HD2 Windows Mobile 7 upgrade. This time it's from an email from an HTC rep sent to someone from XDA. Here is the text:

Dear Toby

Thank you for your enquiry about HD2

What we do it ROM Upgrades from our website, however 6.5 windows mobile has only been out 2 months and windows mobile 7 hasn't even been developed. This wont be out until next november at the earliest. But when it is available it will be a free download.

If these steps have not helped, please let me know by responding using the link provided and I will be happy to check again for you.

also Microsoft Implies Windows Mobile 7 Headed to HTC HD2

This time the info comes straight from Microsoft’s Greg Sullivan, Senior Marketing Manager for the Windows Phone division. He said the following to BetaNews when talking about Windows Mobile 7:

“Our fragmentation issue is primarily around screen resolutions and assuming a minimum CPU and storage. So it has been a little bit challenging, because that choice, that flexibility, that freedom that people have to build any kind of device and use any kind of device: touch, non-touch, keyboard, soft key, has required a little bit extra effort in some cases for developers to target apps that run across a wide array of devices,” Sullivan said.

“But the (HTC) HD2 is a great early example of our new approach…We’ve got capacitive and multi-touch support in a Windows Phone, and that’s because we did the platform work while working very closely with HTC to do the hardware/software integration.”

“So how are we having our cake and eating it too? We’re going to continue the horizontal market, but work very closely with our hardware partners to provide more guidance on the platform so we don’t have nine different display sizes that independent software vendors have to target…maybe just two…

“We’re going to continue investing in the user experience, and the legacy pocket PC 1999 UI that still kind of shows up if you drill down pretty deep? that’s another thing that’s changed.”

Latest version of HTC Sense UI (Manila) mentions Windows Mobile 7

Here are some more findings hinting at a future Windows Mobile 7 update for the HTC HD2. The latest Manila 2.5.1922 (Sense UI) from the leaked 2.02 HTC HD2 ROM includes the following Lua scripts:

This would suggest that HTC is currently working on Windows Mobile 7 ROMs and that the Sense UI may be ported to Microsoft’s new mobile OS.

حسنا اول جزئيه من الخبر تفيد بان احد الاشخاص راسل HTC عن امكانيه تحديث HD2 الي ويندوز 7 وجاء ردهم بان من المتوقع صدور wm7 في نوفمبر القادم وانه سيكون متاح للتحميل

ثاني جزئيه هي حوار صحفي مع نائب مدير قسم تسويق windows mobile و افاد بان النظام يحتاج الي مواصفات معينه من حيث دقه الشاشه و سرعه ال cpu وضرب مثال ب hd2 وانه يوافق ما يريدونه للعمل مع نظامهم الجديد

الجزئيه الاخيره تتحدث عن نسخه مانيلا جديده مسربه لل hd2 و اكتشاف scripts بها تتعلق ب ويندوز 7.
