Cell Phones: How do I restore my mobile device after a failed Kies update?

Important! Your personal information will not be recoverable after using this feature. Please save any personal information that you need to a microSD™ card or your computer prior to using this feature.
Note: Images may differ depending on the device you are using.

1. Disconnect your device from the PC, then Relaunch/Launch the Kies software.
2. Click Tools at the top left of the Kies window. Click Firmware Upgrade and Initialization.
3. Remove the rear cover and battery from your device. Locate the serial number (R26B989579T) and model number (SGH-A123) and enter them in the S/N and Model Name slots respectively. Please note the numbers are case sensitive.
4. Click OK, on the Firmware upgrade and initialization window.
5. Read the notification and click OK.
6. Click OK, to continue.
7. Kies will now download the Firmware upgrade components.
8. Read through the Caution pop-up and, if you agree, click to populate the I have read all of the above information checkbox.
9. Read the Allow saving of information statement and select Allow saving or Proceed without saving.
10. Reinstall the battery and cover. Reconnect your phone to the PC using the USB cable. Your phone will turn on. The device will again display "firmware installation encountered a issue" , click Start upgrade.
11. Kies will begin downloading firmware emergency recovery components from Samsung servers. This will take a few minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
12. After a few minutes, Kies will then begin transferring the firmware binary to the device

1. After a few more minutes, the firmware upgrade will be completed. Click OK, and then Disconnect you device from the PC. Once the device has rebooted it will be ready to use.
