Mobile Pocket PC printing from HP
Hewlett-Packard has made a new printing application available as a free download for owners of its iPAQ handhelds, offering these to print various documents and information either by means of infrared, Bluetooth or Network connections. Since printing functionality is not built into the Pocket PC platform, HP Mobile Printing for Pocket PC is a standalone application from where print jobs are processed.
Print functionality for Inbox, Pocket Word, and File Explorer is accessed through the HP Mobile Printing for Pocket PC application, not the Pocket PC applications themselves, while for Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks, the application adds printing functionality directly into the applications. Combined with ClearVue viewing software from Westtek, users will also be enabled to print desktop PC format Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents.
According to HP, print quality may not be as good as printing from a desktop PC, some embedded graphics may not print correctly, and complex documents may take additional time to print.
